Terms & Conditions

Last updated: September 2026

These terms explain the basis on which Social Care Answers provides independent adult social care information, advice and case-review services.

Our service

We provide independent professional social care advice to individuals, families, carers, self-funders and professionals in relation to adult social care in England. The exact scope of any paid work will be agreed with you before the service begins.

Free initial enquiries

A free initial enquiry is intended to help us understand the broad issue, consider whether the matter falls within our service and identify potential conflicts. It is not a full consultation and does not create an obligation on either side to proceed.

Fees and payment

Current indicative prices are shown on the website. We will confirm the service, price and any material additional charges before you agree to proceed. More complex or additional work will not be undertaken without agreement.

Appointments and cancellations

Any appointment arrangements, including cancellation or rearrangement terms, will be confirmed when a booking is made. Where consumer cancellation rights apply, we will provide the information required by law before a paid service is supplied.

Nature and limits of our advice

Our advice is based on the information available to us at the time. Adult social care decisions are fact-specific and may depend on assessments, evidence, local authority practice, NHS involvement, legal duties and changing guidance. We cannot guarantee that a local authority, NHS body, court, tribunal or other organisation will agree with our view or reach a particular outcome.

Not legal or medical advice

We do not provide legal representation, reserved legal services or medical diagnosis or treatment. Where a matter requires a solicitor, barrister, medical professional, regulated financial adviser or another specialist, we may recommend that you obtain appropriate independent advice.

Statutory and emergency services

Our service does not replace local authority, NHS, safeguarding, advocacy, emergency or other statutory services. If someone is at immediate risk of serious harm or requires urgent medical attention, contact the appropriate emergency or statutory service.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for providing information that is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge, telling us about relevant deadlines and changes, and deciding whether to act on the options discussed. Please do not send highly sensitive documents until we have confirmed an appropriate way to provide them.

Conflicts of interest

We may decline or stop work where we identify an actual or potential conflict of interest or another professional reason that means it would not be appropriate for us to act. Where possible, we will explain this without disclosing confidential information relating to another person.

Confidentiality and data protection

We treat information provided to us as confidential subject to legal, safeguarding and professional obligations. Please see our Privacy Policy for information about how personal data is handled.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with our service, please contact enquiries@socialcareanswers.co.uk so that we can try to resolve the matter. More detailed complaints information may be supplied with paid-service documentation.

Website availability

We aim to keep the website accurate and available but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. Website information is general and should not be treated as advice tailored to your individual circumstances.

Governing law

These website terms and any non-contractual disputes arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any consumer rights you have under applicable law are not affected.
